The implementation details cooperative managers, finance leads, and field teams usually ask for first.
SmartFarm is multi-tenant by design. Every supplier, share account, collection ticket and truck record carries a company_id. Data is row-level isolated per cooperative.
Long-running jobs (bulk allotments, conversions, dividend calculation, exports) are dispatched to a RabbitMQ queue and stream live progress over Server-Sent Events. The UI shows a real-time progress bar per operation key, and every operation is persisted with a full history for audit and retry.
All reports are produced as streaming Excel (.xlsx) using Apache POI's SXSSF API — so you can export hundreds of thousands of rows without running out of memory. PDF exports are not in v1; .xlsx is the single audit-ready format.
Money is stored as BigDecimal(18,4) and quantities (kilograms of produce) as BigDecimal(12,3). Currency is stored as ISO 4217 codes (e.g. "USD", "KES"). Multiple currencies per company are supported, but currency conversion is intentionally out of scope.
Authentication is handled by Keycloak. Staff sign in via SSO, and their Keycloak roles map to SmartFarm roles (Admin, Staff, Collection Clerk, Supplier). A super-admin user can administer companies and central settings under the /admin segment.
A starter deployment for a single-branch cooperative is typically live within a day. A multi-branch Growth or Enterprise rollout — including supplier import, share-product setup, route mapping and staff training — generally takes 1–3 weeks.
